Therapy Sessions.
How Can I help?
A combination of psychotherapy and hypnotherapy can be transforming and help clients to realise new perspectives and horizons.
Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I work with clients from all walks of life who sense they're at some 'critical point' in their lives. Perhaps they are stuck, confused or unsure of the way forward - at a crossroads.
There is a belief in this busy world that life is tough, negative and full of strife - it doesn't have to be that way. As a mindset specialist, I can support you to find positive ways to respond to life and help you to discover the best version of yourself.
I can help you express your goals and to gain a deeper insight into what coping strategies might be useful to help you progress in a more postive or productive way.
My aim is to give you the space, support, and understanding you need, to be more of who you truly are - improving your mental and emotional wellbeing.
Hypnotherapy.
Using hypnotherapy, I will support you to develop visualisation techniques, to help you move away from the negative responses your brain has to certain triggers in life.
I can teach you to manage your behaviours or compulsions and respond in a better way. Hypnotherapy is usually considered an aid to psychotherapy.
You can discover more about the areas of Counselling and Hypnotherapy I can help with by clicking on the headings below.
Insomnia – Are you getting enough sleep?
Sleep is necessary for our quality of life. It affects our moods, productivity and especially our health. During sleep we process the stress of the day, so it is crucial that we get enough sleep.
Hypnotherapy can help you get your sleep under control, by promoting better sleep patterns and quality of sleep.
Fears and phobias - What do you fear?
A phobia is defined as a situation or object that sufferers go to great lengths to avoid, despite the fear often being disproportionate to the danger that is posed.
Through hypnotherapy the brain can learn how to create new habits and train your mind to gain control over your reactions, helping you to relax and bring your levels of anxiety down.
Anxiety and stress (panic attacks) - Are you feeling overwhelmed?
Anxiety is a general feeling of unease. It can creep up on you and have a debilitating effect on your enjoyment and quality of life. Anxiety is a normal reaction to threat, however, it's only helpful if we are in danger. If we are not in danger it can have a detrimental impact on our well being and rational perception.
Hypnotherapy can help anxiety and stress by encouraging positive thinking. Through understanding how our mind reacts to threat, we can choose to respond in a different way.
Pain management - Is pain taking over your life?
Persistent pain may begin with an injury or illness, such as a back injury, a long term condition like cancer or a limb injury. Whatever reason for your pain it can be debilitating.
Hypnotherapy can help you to produce pain relieving chemicals, reducing the need for pain relief. It can also help you get in to the part of the brain that is positive about change, exercise and getting you back on your feet.
Sports motivation - Would you like to improve your sporting talents?
Often I have clients mention that they play golf, football, cricket or their chosen sport well when they practice. However, once faced with competition or in front of an audience they lose their skills.
Hypnotherapy can help you to visualise a positive outcome that can lead to a better result, through understanding how the brain works and by focusing on the desired outcome anything is possible.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) - Is your digestive system telling you that you are stressed?
It’s not fun when your life is dictated by the need to use the toilet and often. IBS can be triggered by stress and very rapidly become a habit that seems to overtake everyday life.
Hypnotherapy can help you to manage stress and anxiety in a different way. It can also help promote chemicals that can ease our stress and anxiety levels, helping us to feel better able to cope.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) - Are your obsessions taking over your life?
Compulsive thinking (or rituals) are a disorder that causes a person to experience intense or insistent thoughts, which has a significantly disruptive effect on their life. OCD is a high alert reponse to a perceived threat, heightening your stress response dramatically.
Hypnotherapy can help by balancing this out and enabling you to return to feeling safe and secure again.
Addiction - Has your addiction become a necessity not a choice?
We can get in to a vicious cycle with addiction. In the early days it makes us feel happy and able to do anything. However, very quickly we can begin to rely on it, what was once a positive thing to do has us in its grips and feels like a nightmare that we can’t get out of. We stop having relationships with people and prioritise our addiction over our daily functioning and interactions with others.
Hypnotherapy can help you to break the habit by interrupting the reaction that you experience to your addiction, this could be sugar, gambling, alcohol, drugs, sex, exercise and many other things.
Confidence - What have you missed out on?
Confidence can have a huge impact on the way we think, the way we feel and on the choices we make. Have you missed out on a career, relationship or move you wanted due to not feeling able to ask for what you wanted? You can experience feelings of worthlessness, not being heard and anger that others don’t notice you.
Hypnotherapy can help you find a more positive you through visualisation and chemical changes in your brain, promoting a happy and more relaxed you.
Relaxation - Are you able to relax?
Some people can find it so easy to relax but others struggle to sit, chill, unwind or turn off for the day. Our minds can be full of experiences of the day, worries of the future and hardly ever experience just being in that moment.
Hypnotherapy can help you unwind and feel a deeper sense of relaxation within you, through using visualisation and trance to get closer to who you want to be. Resting is essential for our bodies to gain strength and for our brains to process the events of the day.
Weight control - Are you wanting to change your weight?
In today’s modern world, we are never far away from a supermarket, fast food restaurant or café. We are bombarded with propaganda telling us to eat their products - tempting offers of buy one get one free or go large meals. Amongst all this we can lose ourselves in the business of the day and not notice what we are eating or indeed what we are not eating.
Hypnotherapy can help you to focus on what it is you want and make it easier for you to remain motivated and lose weight in a steady way.
Fear of flying - Are you dreading your next flight?
So, you’ve booked that dream holiday but instead of it feeling like a dream come true, it now feels like a nightmare. You try not to think about it, but your mind is obsessed with reminding you that you will be travelling on a plane soon.
Hypnotherapy is an effective tool with phobia and fears. It can help you to erase the existing concern and resistance and replace it with a happier and more helpful thought. In essence, it can remove an existing unhelpful belief and replace it with a nice new one.
Smoking - Do you want to quit but need support?
Imagine how your life could be if you made the decision to stop smoking. The extra money that you’d have and the health benefits, not only for you but for your family members and loved ones too.
Over the last few years the stigma attached to smoking has increased. Smoking is now banned in bars, restaurants, public transport and in most public areas. There are ‘No Smoking’ signs everywhere, reminding you that society wants you to stop smoking.
Hpnotherapy can harness your mind to make the decision to stop smoking a reality. It can help you create your vision of a non-smoking future and leave behind those unhelpful beliefs that have allowed you to associate smoking with any feelings of relaxation, happiness or addiciton. Hypnotherapy will help you to recognise and dismiss any thoughts that may lead to smoking, allowing you to have a smoke-free future.
Depression - Are you feeling low?
Depression can feel like a lonely place to be. Your brain is being starved of the chemicals to help you to cope and manage what life throws at you. We stop thinking, interacting and acting in a positive way.
Hypnotherapy can help you by encouraging the release of the essentials chemicals needed to promote an optimistic outlook.
Working with Children
The world can be a stressful and unhappy place for teenagers. It could be exam nerves, drugs or alcohol, trouble sleeping, phobias, food control issues, lack of confidence, problems in school, bed-wetting and many other concerns that can contribute to a child needing support.
Children can respond well to hypnotherapy as long as they are happy to change and work with me. They also need to be aware of why they are coming to see me.
